Resources Inc. a Leading Domestic Violence Prevention Organization in New Mexico Appoints New Executive Director
The board of directors of Resources Inc., Albuquerque’s leading domestic violence organization, has announced the appointment of Efrain Centeno as its new Executive Director. Mr. Centeno, who arrived from New Jersey to lead the organization, is no stranger to the issues of domestic violence. He was Director of Domestic Violence Services for the largest victim services organization in the state of New York. In addition, he was Chief Executive Officer of the National Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse, New York Center where was awarded the Governor’s Decade of the Child award for his innovative work.
In addition to leading several family violence organizations, Mr. Centeno has worked directly with both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and child abuse. Mr. Centeno’s most recent executive position has been as President and CEO of the YMCA in Somerset Valley, New Jersey where he has served over the past decade. Mr. Centeno has led statewide initiatives and presented in numerous national forums and conferences.
Mr. Centeno holds a Bachelor in Social Work from Herbert H. Lehman College in New York, a Masters in Social Work from Hunter College in N.Y.C., and a Post Masters Certificate in Clinical Social Work from New York University. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at California’s Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center.
Mr. Centeno has already moved to the Albuquerque area with his family and will take the reigns of Resources Inc. on November 24th. “We welcome Efrain to our organization and look forward with excitement to working with him to further our work in advocating for victims and the prevention of family violence” said Kim Helm, President of the Board.
Resources Inc. has been providing services to victims of domestic violence for over 12 years. Its services include advocacy, crisis intervention, and counseling to women and their children. |
